What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellation Policy (Sebago Lake Boat Rentals)We understand plans can change. The options below apply to all rentals unless otherwise noted on your reservation.1 month before your start time: Cancel for a full refund (minus any non-refundable processing fees, if applicable)..Less 1 month before your start time: No refund but you can reschedule for another date.No-shows / late arrivals: No refund. Rental time is not extended for late arrivals.How to Cancel Please cancel by replying to your confirmation email or contacting us directly as soon as possible. Cancellations are time-stamped and based on our local time in Raymond, Maine.Weather Safety comes first. If we determine conditions on Sebago Lake are unsafe (e.g., high winds, lightning, severe weather) and we cancel your rental, you’ll receive a full refund or you may choose to reschedule (subject to availability). Light rain or cloudy forecasts typically do not qualify for a weather cancellation.Rescheduling If you need to change your date/time, please contact us. Reschedules are based on availability and may be treated as a cancellation if made within 48 hours of your start time.

What is the check-in process?

Check-In Process (What to do when you arrive)Arrive 15–20 minutes early. This gives us time to complete paperwork and get you on the water on schedule.Park and head to our check-in area.Text to find out where that is depending on location of boat pick up.Have your documents ready. Please bring a valid photo ID for the primary renter and your reservation details (name/confirmation email).Complete paperwork. You’ll review and sign our rental agreement/waiver and confirm your rental time, boat type, and any add-ons.Payment & security hold (if applicable). We’ll confirm your payment method and any required deposit/hold before departure.Safety briefing (about 10–15 minutes). We’ll cover life jackets, capacity limits, local rules, no-wake zones, weather expectations, and what to do in an emergency.Boat/equipment orientation. A team member will walk you through key controls and features (starting/stopping, steering, trim, anchors, fuel, ladder, lights, bilge, and any included gear). For kayaks/canoes/SUPs, we’ll fit you with a PFD and review paddling basics.Inspect and confirm. We’ll do a quick walkthrough of the boat/equipment condition with you and answer any questions before you leave the dock.Departure. Once you’re comfortable and ready, we’ll help you cast off and point you toward great coves and cruising areas on Sebago Lake.Helpful tips: Wear/bring sunscreen, water, and a towel. If you plan to swim, bring dry clothes for the ride back. If weather is questionable, we’ll review options with you at check-in.

What should I bring?

We recommend bringing: valid id, sunscreen, towels, cooler, snacks, camera, and cash for fuel. All required safety equipment is provided.

How do refunds work?

Refund PolicyRefunds are issued based on your cancellation or adjustment and are returned to the original payment method whenever possible.Processing time: Once approved, refunds are processed by Sebago Lake Boat Rentals within 1–2 business days.When you’ll see it: Your bank or card issuer typically posts the credit within 5–10 business days (timing varies by institution).Deposits/prepayments: If you paid a deposit, any refundable portion will be returned using the same timeline above.Weather-related refunds: If we determine conditions are unsafe and we cancel your rental, you may choose a full refund or reschedule.No-shows / late arrivals: Refunds are not available for no-shows or unused time due to late arrival.Partial refunds: If a refund is approved for a shortened rental (for example, due to a mechanical issue), the refunded amount will be based on the unused rental time.Need help? What if the rental is damaged?

Damage Policy & Security DepositWe take pride in keeping our boats and water gear clean, safe, and ready for your next great day on Sebago Lake. To protect our equipment, a security deposit (credit card authorization hold) is required for all rentals. The deposit amount varies by rental type and is shown during booking/checkout.How the security deposit worksYour card is pre-authorized at check-in (this is not a charge).If the equipment is returned in the same condition (normal wear excepted), the hold is released after the return inspection. Timing depends on your bank (often 3–10 business days).If there is damage, missing equipment, excessive cleaning, or other costs, we may charge all or part of the deposit and/or charge the card for costs beyond the deposit.What counts as “damage”Damage beyond normal wear and tear (rips/tears in seats or biminis, broken hardware, damaged ladders/rails, cracked hull, bent/skeg damage, broken paddles, etc.).Prop/drive damage from striking rocks, sandbars, or other objects (including fishing line wrapped on the prop).

Are there age requirements?

Must be 21+ to rent. Boat operators must be 18+ with valid ID. Minors may ride only with a parent/guardian onboard.

Do I need a license or certification?

No boating license is required, but Maine law may require a Boater Safety Certificate for some operators based on age and boat type. Please bring a photo ID and any boater safety card/certificate you have.

What happens if there's bad weather?

Weather Policy (Sebago Lake)Your safety comes first. If conditions on Sebago Lake are unsafe—such as thunderstorms/lightning, dense fog, high winds/whitecaps, or other severe weather—we may delay launch, shorten the rental window, or cancel rentals at our discretion based on current lake conditions and trusted forecasts.If we cancel before your rental start time due to weather: You may reschedule to the next available date/time or receive a full refund.If we delay the start time: We’ll do our best to get you out as soon as conditions improve. If a delay no longer works for your plans, you can reschedule or take a refund.If weather turns bad during your rental: We may require you to return to shore early for safety. In these cases, we’ll work with you on a fair solution (typically a prorated adjustment, credit, or reschedule option depending on timing and conditions).Please keep your phone available on rental day—we’ll contact you if weather affects your reservation. If you’re unsure about conditions, call us before you arrive.
